How It All Began

Centuries ago, humanity experienced an event now known as The Cataclysm. Without warning, dimensional ruptures appeared across the planet, tearing open gateways to an unknown realm. From these fractures emerged hostile entities later classified as demons, beings composed of unstable energy and matter that did not follow the natural laws of Earth. Their appearance triggered a global collapse. Cities were overrun, governments failed, and large portions of the world became uninhabitable.

Humanity survived only because researchers discovered that the invading entities contained a condensed energy structure known as a Magic Core. These cores could be harvested from defeated demons and used as a powerful new energy source. More importantly, they allowed humans to interact with the same supernatural forces the demons themselves used.

However, manipulating this energy proved extremely dangerous. Most humans were incapable of safely channeling it, and early experiments resulted in catastrophic failures. To solve this problem, specialized combat constructs were developed. Humanoid machines designed specifically to wield magic cores and survive exposure to their volatile energy. These machines eventually became known as Mecha Witches.

As the demon incursions continued, humanity reorganized its remaining military and research infrastructure into a unified defense organization: The Ritual Division. Instead of a traditional army, the organization was structured around specialized divisions dedicated to different magical and tactical roles ranging from frontline combat to large-scale ritual operations capable of reshaping entire battlefields.

Over time, the Mecha Witches proved far more than disposable weapons. Through continuous combat, adaptation, and cooperation with human operators, they became the most effective defense humanity had against the demonic threat. Elite units within the Ritual Division now undertake missions to eliminate demons, secure magic cores, and stabilize regions threatened by dimensional activity.

Today, humanity exists in a fragile equilibrium. Demonic incursions have not stopped, and the source of the Cataclysm remains unknown. The survival of civilization depends on the continued operations of the Ritual Division and the witches who fight at the edge of the world’s last safe territories.
